Following the publication of the ICO’s beta phase Accountability Framework in September 2020, the ICO’s recent blog post considers what is next for the Framework.
The Framework is designed to assist organisations in complying with their accountability obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 UK GDPR regime. The blog highlights its own need to evolve to ensure it meets the needs of data protection practitioners in their day to day work and the challenges of an ever-changing Data Protection environment.
The first step in this evolution draws on feedback from the Accountability Framework Survey in which 61% of respondents agreed that case studies would improve the Framework. Data Protection practitioners are invited to share best practice examples which illustrate the innovative ways their organisations demonstrate compliance with the Accountability Principle
The ICO will also be running online workshops to look at how they can adapt and improve the self-assessment tool to meet your organisation’s needs.
